SAYAW PINOY WOWS SM DAVAO

Sayaw Pinoy is the longest-running National Arts Month project. Through the years, it has provided the people from different parts of the country an overview of the colorful Filipino traditional dances and movements. In these dance concerts, the country's top dance companies perform back to back with local dance troupes of host cities and municipalities.

Last February 7, the Sayaw Pinoy touring dance concert made a pit stop at SM City Davao. The multi-awarded dance ensemble Shirley Halili-Cruz Dance Company was joined by Davao’s very own Kaagan Dance and Theatre Collective led by Jemael Nur Jatico II.

The dance concert tour has made their mark in key cities like of Manila, Makati, Pasig, Antipolo, Mandaluyong, Marikina and Quezon for the National Capital Region leg. After Davao City, they are set to visit, Digos City, General Santos City, Saranggani and Tagum City. The tour will also be held in the cities of Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo and Tacloban. Other target locations are Baguio, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Batangas and Bicol.

Students, dance enthusiasts, artists and foreign nationals witnessed the powerful performances of both dance groups.

Sayaw Pinoy brought together different dance forms such as classical ballet, folk dance, contemporary and modern dance.

Jatico of Kaagan group expressed his gratitude to NCCA and Commissioner Cruz for the opportunity to share center stage with the multi-awarded crew. The local group was also grateful that the concert provided them a venue to promote to the public the Kaagan culture.
